What you need to know about the Federal Plastics Registry

Companies will soon be required to submit data to the Federal Plastics Registry on the quantity and types of plastic they put on the Canadian market. Understanding that industry has many questions about the Registry, ANAC has arranged for Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) to provide an informative webinar for members to learn more about the Registry and ask questions to gain clarification.

When is a plant-derived ingredient considered novel?

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) recently released new guidance on How to determine when a plant-derived ingredient requires a feed pre-market assessment. This guidance supplements the existing Guidelines for the assessment of novel feeds: Plant sources and incorporates feedback received during a consultation held on the document last fall.

CFIA launches ERA-Renderer model

Rendering plants holding a permit under the authority of the Health of Animals Regulations have until June 14, 2024 to submit their online questionnaire for the Establishment-based Risk Assessment model for renderers (ERA-Renderer model). All permitted rendering plants should have received an email from the CFIA with information on how to complete and submit the questionnaire.
