ANAC collaborates with industry and regulators from around the world

ANAC represented the Canadian feed industry at the 17th International Feed Regulators Meeting (IFRM) at the end of January. This annual meeting, organized jointly by the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF), provides an opportunity for representatives from around the world to discuss key issues affecting the feed and food chains.

Help develop and establish common guidance in the feed industry

The International Cooperation for Convergence of Technical Requirements for the Assessment of Feed Ingredients (ICCF) Steering Committee is initiating a series of Expert Working Groups (EWG) focusing on the development of guidance documents on the assessment of the effectiveness of feed ingredients and/or ingredient market formulations along the feed chain, when used at the proposed use level.

Last week, ANAC’s Government Affairs Manager Sarah Hopkins joined government and industry representatives from Canada, the United States and Mexico to hear about each country’s policies, programs and initiatives to protect against the potential arrival of ASF and emergency response plans if a positive case of ASF is detected.

User fee increases proposed for APHIS’s Agricultural Quarantine and Inspection program

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has announced plans to increase its Agricultural Quarantine and Inspection (AQI) program user fees on all shipments entering the U.S. (including air, marine, truck and rail shipments).
