In July 2023, Quebec enacted extended producer responsibility (EPR) legislation requiring companies that market packaged goods in the province to have a plastics and packaging recovery program in place or to join an organization accredited by Recyc-Québec that will manage such a program of their behalf. Entitled Règlement sur la récupération et la valorisation de produits par les entreprises (RRVPE) [Regulation respecting the recovery and reclamation of products by enterprises], this regulation applies to businesses in all sectors.

The newly launched federal Market Diversification program is designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises in the Canadian agriculture and agri-food sector weather current market instability through greater market diversification.
