As a benefit of ANAC membership, your association is here to assist you with inspection challenges you face in the field. Should you encounter difficulty during or after an inspection, such as receiving a corrective action request (CAR) that you feel is not supported by the regulations, ANAC can support by providing guidance and, if needed, advocacy on your behalf.

The Competition Bureau has released its final guidelines on environmental claims, designed to assist businesses in complying with greenwashing provisions added to the Competition Act in June 2024.

Government has published Regulations Amending Certain Regulations Made Under the Canada Labour Code (Leave Related to Pregnancy Loss, Bereavement Leave and Leave for Placement of Child) in Canada Gazette, Part I (CGI) for consultation. These proposed amendments would introduce new leave of absence provisions for employees in federally regulated organizations (including feed mills).

To support the feed industry in understanding and meeting the new regulatory requirements that came into force on June 17, 2025, the CFIA has published several new and updated guidance documents. 

The second phase of requirements under the Feeds Regulations, 2024 came into force on Tuesday June 17.

Consultant formula feeds no longer exist under the Feeds Regulations, 2024 and the one-year transition period enabling their continued use comes to an end on June 17. After almost a year of lobbying for this allowance, the CFIA advised ANAC on Friday that they will allow industry to continue to make consultant formula type feeds (i.e. mix and dilute specialty feeds for a specific customer) under an existing item in the Tables of Permissible Claims for Feed Labels.

To support the feed industry in understanding and meeting the new regulatory requirements coming into force on June 17, 2025, the CFIA will be publishing several new and updated guidance documents.

ANAC members flagged certain regulatory changes coming on June 17, 2025 as being problematic for the feed industry because they do not align with common industry practices and compliance would be difficult and burdensome. ANAC has been discussing these elements with the CFIA with an aim to find and implement workable solutions. However, since these solutions will not be implemented with adequate time for industry to adjust by June 17, the CFIA has assured ANAC that inspection flexibility will be provided in the short term.
