The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has updated the Canadian Feed Ingredients Table (CFIT) to reflect the changes consulted on from July to December 2024.

ANAC’s newest communication campaign, IbR Consultations and Updates, keeps you in the know about the CFIA’s incorporated by reference (IbR) documents.

The Compendium of Non-Feed Products has been updated to include new products, as well as additional caution and warning statements.

A 30-day consultation period is now open for the following single ingredient feed (SIF) descriptions. Please submit any comments on these SIF descriptions by December 28, 2024.

With the publication of the Feeds Regulations, 2024, the Canadian Feed Ingredient Table (CFIT) replaced Schedules IV and V as the document listing single ingredient feeds approved for livestock in Canada.

A 30-day consultation period is now open for the following eight single ingredient feed (SIF) descriptions. Please submit any comments on these SIF descriptions directly to the Animal Feed Program (cfia.afp-paa.acia@inspection.gc.ca) by November 25, 2024.

A 30-day consultation period is now open for the following single ingredient feed (SIF) descriptions: Lactobacillus acidophilus culture dehydrated, waxy-leaf nightshade leaf powder, and kluyveromyces marxianus culture dehydrated.

The Feeds Regulations, 2024 include nine documents that are incorporated by reference (IbR).IbR documents form part of the regulatory requirements without being part of the regulations themselves. This method facilitates more timely updates of regulatory requirements resulting from industry changes and advancements in scientific developments and innovation. 

The CFIA released several updates to the Compendium of Medicating Ingredient Brochures (CMIB) in the month of May. These updates are detailed below.

A 30-day consultation period is now open for the proposed new single ingredient feed (SIF) description for tannic acid. Please submit any comments on this SIF definition directly to the Animal Feed Program (cfia.afp-paa.acia@inspection.gc.ca) by April 28, 2024.
