FeedAssure®

Crisis management was a new addition to the FeedAssure® v.4 2022 program. Crisis management was included in the program to proactively address emergencies that impact a facility’s ability to manufacture or deliver a safe final product.

After a year of auditing to FeedAssure® v.4, ANAC reviewed the audit reports and identified the most common non-conformances to determine where further guidance might be needed.

In the FeedAssure® v.4 2022 program, there is a new requirement that includes procedures to approve contracted service providers.  Since service providers often have access to a facility’s production area, it is important to ensure that additional hazards are not introduced that could impact feed safety.

Gain the expertise to conduct your own internal audit in the popular FeedAssure® Internal Auditing course. This intermediate-level course is tailored to meet the needs of FeedAssure® certified facility employees and prepares participants to conduct their own internal audit.

ANAC is committed to upholding FeedAssure® as the highest feed safety standard in Canada. As part of our efforts to achieve this objective, ANAC takes an active role in auditor training to continuously improve audit consistency and quality. 

If you disagree with third-party audit finding, you can challenge the finding by contacting the ANAC office. Note that facilities must return the completed External Audit Complaint Form and supporting documentation within 14 days of the audit. 

The Pre-Audit Documentation (PAD) review is a new component of the audit process under FeedAssure® v.4 2022. The PAD review enables auditors to take a risk- and outcome-based approach to auditing. By reviewing a series of the facility’s key documents ahead of the onsite audit, auditors can better plan their audit to prioritize high-risk areas while onsite. 

Promptly addressing FeedAssure® non-conformances identified during internal or external audits is critical to minimizing the potential negative impacts they may have on feed safety. Learn how to close out audit non-conformances to maintain FeedAssure® certification.

March 1, 2023 marked the end of the 1-year transition period and official release of ANAC’s FeedAssure® v.4 (2022) program. Facilities excelled in adapting to the program changes, proactively addressing feed safety risks and demonstrating their strong commitment to providing safe feed for livestock.
