FeedAssure® Program Update

Over the past year, ANAC and the FeedAssure® steering committee have been hard at work updating the FeedAssure® program. FeedAssure® was developed more than 20 years ago with the last major changes to the program implemented in 2010.

The updated program will reflect anticipated changes in Canadian regulations, new customer requirements, as well as scientific advancements in the feed industry by expanding upon current program elements such as management commitment, supplier approval, biosecurity, and the generic model. The concepts of as well as crisis management, and feed fraud/feed defense have also been introduced. These updates will help ensure FeedAssure® continues to meet the needs of the industry by providing a robust HACCP feed safety program that is the gold standard for feed safety in Canada.

To support facilities with the implementation of the program requirements, new appendices have been developed and current appendices have been revised. In the coming months, ANAC will be working on developing new training materials to support currently certified facilities implement the program changes. Training will also be developed for new facilities wanting to join the program.

The official launch of the updated FeedAssure® program is planned for September 2021. Facilities currently FeedAssure® certified will have until late spring 2022 to transition to the new program.
