ISO 22000 Certification
Evolution of FeedAssure®
In May 2012, ANAC launched a new program to assist FeedAssure® certified facilities to implement and obtain certification in the ISO 22000 food safety management system standard. ISO 22000 offers a framework for organizations looking to raise the bar in managing their food safety risks. The standard has been gaining recognition in the food and feed industries and is recognized internationally.
When FeedAssure® was first launched, it was the first feed industry HACCP program in North America and one of the first in the world. ANAC’s new program allows the feed industry to again play a leading role in securing the safety of the food supply chain.
About ISO 22000
In 2005, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) introduced ISO 22000, an auditable food safety management system that could be used across the global food chain regardless of size or complexity of the organization, recognizing that food safety hazards could be introduced at any point in the supply chain and that food safety is a shared responsibility. The standard combines HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and a comprehensive management system whose aim is to meet customer and regulatory requirements for organizations requiring an internationally-recognized food safety management system.
